Position Overview
The Directional Drill Crew Foreman leads the HDD crew and oversees the day-to-day drilling operation. This role combines crew leadership with hands-on field work, including equipment operation, troubleshooting, jobsite coordination, and supporting the crew as needed. The Foreman takes ownership of the crew, equipment, and work being performed while setting the standard for safety, quality and getting the job done right.
Responsibilities
- Lead and work alongside the HDD crew, including drill operators, locators, and laborers.
- Read and follow bore plans, profiles, and project specifications to maintain proper grade, alignment, and depth.
- Operate and monitor directional drilling equipment as needed.
- Coordinate daily work with project managers, inspectors, locators, and other project personnel.
- Set the standard for jobsite safety, productivity, quality, and professionalism.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and coordinate basic maintenance and repairs.
- Monitor ground conditions, drilling fluids, bore progress, and tracking systems.
- Identify and communicate potential issues before they impact safety, quality, or production.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of directional drilling experience, with strong HDD operator experience.
- Previous Foreman or crew leadership experience preferred.
- Knowledge of utility locating, potholing, bore profiles, and tracking systems.
- Understanding of ground conditions and drilling fluids.
- CDL License.
- Ability to travel. Per diem and lodging provided.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Compensation

Position Overview
The Directional Drill Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating HDD equipment and helping the crew complete each bore according to the project plans. This role combines equipment operation with hands-on field work, including monitoring the bore, working with the locator and crew, managing drilling conditions, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. The Operator takes pride in the equipment, pays attention to the details, and takes responsibility for getting the job done right.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor directional drilling equipment during bores, reaming, and pullback operations.
- Read and follow bore plans, profiles, and project specifications.
- Work closely with the locator and Foreman to maintain proper bore path, depth and alignment.
- Monitor ground conditions, drilling fluids, equipment performance, and bore progress.
- Make adjustments to drilling operations based on ground conditions and bore requirements.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and assist with routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Communicate equipment, bore, and jobsite issues to the Foreman as they arise.
- Assist the HDD crew with setup, cleanup, tooling changes, product handling, and other field work as needed.
- Follow all company and project safety requirements and help keep the crew working safely.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of directional drilling experience preferred.
- Experience operating HDD equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of bore plans, tracking systems, drilling fluids, and ground conditions.
- Ability to work effectively with a locator and HDD crew.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- CDL License preferred.
- Ability to travel. Per diem and lodging provided.

Position Overview
The Directional Drill Locator is responsible for accurately tracking and communicating the position of the drill head throughout the HDD operation. The Locator works closely with the Foreman and Drill Operator to follow the planned bore path, monitor depth and alignment, and identify potential issues. This role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to stay actively involved in the work throughout the day.
Responsibilities
- Confirm the planned bore path with the Foreman and Drill Operator before and during drilling operations.
- Walk and inspect the bore path to identify existing utilities, ground conditions, access points, and potential obstacles.
- Monitor and record drill head location, depth, and alignment throughout the bore.
- Communicate drill head position and bore conditions clearly to the Drill Operator and Foreman.
- Help maintain proper clearances from existing utilities and other underground obstructions.
- Monitor tracking equipment and report any issues or irregularities.
- Work with the crew to make adjustments when field conditions differ from the planned bore.
- Assist with jobsite setup, cleanup, potholing, and other field work as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous HDD locating experience preferred.
- Experience with HDD tracking systems and locating equipment.
- Knowledge of bore profiles, underground utilities, and jobsite conditions.
- Strong communication and ability to work closely with the Drill Operator and Foreman.
- Attention to detail and ability to make sound decisions in the field.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- CDL License preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Ability to travel. Per diem and lodging provided.

Position Overview
The Directional Drill Fuser is responsible for properly preparing and fusing pipe as part of the HDD installation process. This role works closely with the Foreman and drill crew to keep pipe operations organized and on schedule while maintain the quality of each fusion. The Fuser also helps with equipment, setup, and other field work as needed.
Responsibilities
- Perform pipe fusion according to project specifications and manufacturer requirements.
- Set up, operate, and maintain pipe fusion equipment.
- Prepare, clean, face, align, and inspect pipe for fusion.
- Monitor fusion temperatures, pressures, timing, and other required parameters.
- Work closely with the Foreman and drill crew to coordinate pipe preparation and pullback operations.
- Maintain fusion records and documentation as required.
- Conduct equipment inspections and assist with routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Handle and stage pipe and equipment.
- Assist the crew with setup, cleanup, and other field work as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
Qualifications
- Previous pipe fusion experience preferred.
- Ability to follow project specifications and fusion procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of an HDD crew.
- CDL License preferred.
- Ability to travel. Per diem and lodging provided.
